Cool Tune: Tracy Chapman “Change”

I was going to post a rockin’ tune today because it seems like my tunes have been sort of mellow of late. But then I read this post on Heather Armstrong’s website, Dooce.com, and it stopped me in my tracks.

For me, Dooce epitomizes blogger success. She’s been around forever, gets millions of visitors, secured a book deal (and a wink from Kathy Lee Gifford), and now there’s even talk of a movie. I mean, what writer doesn’t secretly want to cast some A-lister as herself on the big-screen (but no way I’m casting Jon Laroquette as my husband…that’s just crazy talk).

And though the green-eyed monster can rear its ugly head every now and then (dooce envy?), the reality is…everyone’s dealing with their own shit. Nobody’s life is perfect…it doesn’t matter how much it seems like they have or how much they try to convince you otherwise.

If we can remember that, maybe we’d be more likely to appreciate what we’ve got instead of worry about what we don’t. We’re all struggling to keep it together, so if we can find it within ourselves to be a little more generous with each other, maybe the world would be a little more kind.

And really, that’s what being a Cool Broad is all about…that and the ability to change…for the better, of course.

Don’t worry, I’m jealous of you and your site.

Love this song. I have loved every one of the songs you download.

I hate when dooce stops talking about sexplosions and makes me cry.

Hey, I just thought I’d mention that even us non-broads (a.k.a. cool dudes) like the “Cool Tunes” you feature over here. More! More!
