An important part of every Cool Broad evolution is the definition and ownership of your personal style. As mentioned in a previous post, personal style can be defined as the way in which you choose to express and represent yourself through fashion and beauty. It’s the material manifestation of your personality. It’s what makes you unique.
And it’s been my experience that good resources can be incredibly helpful when learning how to express yourself and make the most of what you’ve been given (because some of us just weren’t born knowing this stuff).
So when I happen upon meaty articles that contain really useful information (not just fluff or overhyped, empty promises), I’ll post them two at a time on Tuesday (because I’m just sweet like that).
So for the first “Two on Tuesday”, I’ve got a couple of really cool links to share. Click on the title to read the full article.
The 4 Clothing Colors That Flatter Everyone
-
I was a little skeptical of this article and it’s premise at first, but I have truly found that each of these colors makes me feel like I’m getting the most out of my outfit.
According to Leatrice Eiseman, author of The Color Answer Book and Director of the Pantone Color Institute, “Some colors work for
all skin tones and hair colors, because they fall into the middle of
the color spectrum, meaning they’re not too warm or too cool.”
My favorite of the four…eggplant (I even put it on my toenails). The color that raised my eyebrows…teal, but it works!
- Who doesn’t want the big, gorgeous, sexy tresses that have practically become Cosmo’s trademark? According to NYC
and Miami salon owner Oribe, the man behind the look, “It’s
the kind of hair every woman wants to have because every man wants to touch it.”
Huh. I think bouncy, sexy hair looks healthy…but if some guy wants to touch me for it…all the better:)
I’ve incorporated a few of the steps into my daily blow-out routine and save the full monty for special occasions (because I’m not gonna lie…it takes a little time). Try it out and tell me what you think!

I love that colour thing. I also fell in love with plum when my make up artist for my wedding went heavy on a smoky plum eye. Gorgeous! That said I don’t have much luck finding it in clothes.
As for the hair stuff - I have incredibly thick naturally curly hair so the best way for me to get those locks is pay for someone else to do it. I’m tres jealous that you can do it yourself!

I am *such* a geek. I really should be kicked off this site now.
I was reading along, and came to the part where you said you like eggplant, and thought, “Yeah, that color does match her a lot” and I was THINKING OF THE AVATAR ON TOP OF YOUR PAGE. *bows*
Love the color article - I like wearing all three colors, and now that I think about it, they DO look good on everyone.
I will have to get back to you on the hair. I’m a wash and go kind of girl, but I am always looking for ways to glam up.
