As I mentioned earlier, on the heels of my weekend in NYC with the gals…drinking, cavorting, and pretending that we’re in our twenties again…I found myself so glad to be home. And though I’ve always fancied myself as someone who might live in the city (because I’m super glamorous and so very cosmopolitan), I’m not actually sure that I’m cut out for it.
For starters, I think I have shin splints from all the walking we did in New York. And then there’s the who do you tip and how much?. I’m pretty sure I offended a concierge by tipping him 2 bucks for a nightclub suggestion (I know, I know, but I’d been drinking…lots).
But it was fun to pretend, if only for a weekend, and hence this song. I have a tendency to wish away the days (i.e., it’ll be great when the kids are in school/we have more money/the dog learns to walk herself). But I’m trying to get better about enjoying life as it is and appreciating what I’ve got. Because before I know it, my kids will have left the house (and won’t return my phone calls) and I’ll have an extra chin.
And actually, pretending does seem to be a good way to get some of those half-baked ideas out of your system (as well as an effective way to solicit free drinks and a cab ride).
Have a great weekend!

I picture myself as someone who would like to live in the country because I am super-unglamorous and so very un-cosmopolitan (but I do like to drink them!!) but I really can’t stand the smells!!

Absolutely…my double chin has started already and my youngest isn’t even in Kindergarten.
