That Cool Broad is ALL about personal development

Ever since I began chronicling my journey toward becoming “That Cool Broad”, I’ve struggled to find similar blogs to model my website after and have been flummoxed (more than once) when I’ve been required to identify an appropriate category for my website.

When you’re a woman and you have kids, people like to assign the label “mommy blogger” but, no offense to the wonderful mommy bloggers out there, the content of my blog isn’t your typical mommy blogger fare.

That Cool Broad COULD be considered a “women’s issues” blog, though those types of websites tend to me more political in nature.

Parenting blogs…nope. Fashion and beauty blogs…a little, but not primarily. Celebrity gossip blogs…forgetaboutit.

But then I got listed as a top personal development blog on PluginID.com and my response was, “That’s it! Personal development! It’s perfect!”

And I’m thrilled to be included in a list of blogs that include such top websites as Lifehacker and Zen habits…websites that are devoted to making life better, more productive, and more fulfilling for its readers. No gossip, no snarkiness, no spending time obsessing about someone else’s life…just good, useful content.

So check out the other personal development blogs on the list and see if any speak to you. My favorites? The Happiness Project (written by a women who’s on a personal quest to become more happy) and Dumb Little Man (which I started reading only because I thought that the Dumb Little Man and That Cool Broad could, in some alternate reality, be friends, but then I came to find real value in the articles). Also, check out the Positivity Blog by Henrik Edberg, whom I referenced in an earlier article about dealing with envy.

And hopefully, being surrounded by such quality content will inspire me as I personally develop into the coolest broad I know. Get it? Personally develop.

Um…okay, I promise to steer clear of the “humor” category.

Great news for Cool Broads!!! Congratulations. Oh, but may I please confess that I’m so jealous you have a category. I keep hoping to find a category called schizophrenic & overly-caffeinated. Can I be a cool broad with no direction?

    @ tricia

Absofreakinglutely! You can be a Cool Broad with no direction or category! (I was just psyched someone put me somewhere…and it wasn’t in the corner).

Your comment reminded me of an interview I had just out of college. The potential employer told me it seemed like I was unfocused. Ah. The story of my life! Needless to say, I didn’t get the job. And I’m still searching for that gosh-dern focus:)
